Dan Hurley, BA, MJ, APR

Dan Hurley is Executive Director, University Relations at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, where he leads a team of more than 30 employees responsible for strategic communications, marketing and branding, web management, government relations, advancement and alumni relations.

Dan served previously as Associate Vice-President (External Affairs) and senior advisor to the President of the University of Winnipeg. He also spent more than a decade in Ottawa working as a political advisor on Parliament Hill to several cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament, and as a broadcast journalist for CBC Radio.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian Studies from the University of Winnipeg, a Master of Journalism from Carleton University, and the APR designation from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). He is a past vice-president with CPRS-Manitoba and now a member of CPRS-Vancouver Island.

He is also a board member with the Foundation for the Study of Processes of Government in Canada, and the Milner Gardens and Woodlands Society.
