Bill Koch is director of public and government affairs for Cameco Corporation's Fuel Services Division headquartered in Port Hope, Ontario. The company is the second largest uranium company in the world and the Ontario operations process uranium concentrates into nuclear fuel for both heavy- and light-water power reactors. An expert in crisis communications and a life-long student of behavioural public relations, he was formerly vice president of communications for Laidlaw Education Services – a North American school bus contractor that carried more than two million children to and from school each day. His 40-year plus career in public relations has included positions in government, agency and corporate PR, concentrating primarily on environmental and transportation issues.
Bill is co-author of the book No Surprises: The Crisis Communications Management System and a contributing author to the book Public Affairs in an Era of Change. He earned accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America in 1988 and was elected to their College of Fellows in 1992. He is a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Policy Committee, the Public Affairs Advisory Committee of the Canadian Nuclear Association and the Northumberland County United Way board of directors. He is also a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and the Public Relations Society of America, where he is a past national chair of PRSA's Public and Government Affairs Section.
